According to multiple sources, MLS will be mic’ing up the coaches on both sidelines for their nationally televised games. The best summation of the information was put together by Jonathan Tannenwald, at Philly.com. Week one will premier the feature, with Portland taking on Columbus. What will fans hear from these mics? Mostly “the coaches giving orders to their players, as well as enhanced sound from the benches and technical areas.” Of course, MLS will be overseeing the whole thing so we don’t hear too much (profanity).
I cannot think of anything more boring than listening to a coach during a soccer match. So much of the prep is done before hand and so much of the play is instinctual, call me a moron, but I think this is a worthless idea.
